Day one. May/8/2012

Before I start telling you about today's happenings I must tell you that I intend to blog only for a year, so that you can see how me and my pets change. Anyway I will tell all about today.

This morning when I woke up, I must confess that I was not in a hurry to jump out of bed. That is until a horrible thought crossed my mind. "Garden club is today"! So without a moments hesitation I leaped out of bed and put on some clothes. I then ran downstairs and rummaged around in the desk drawers until I found the garden club booklet. I flipped through the pages until I came to page 21. At the top of the page it said "Garden club, May/8/12 at the Episcopal church. {Time} meeting starts 2:30pm." I then called the president of the garden club to tell her that my mother would be unable to come to garden club but if she needed any help with anything that she would not hesitate to ask me. She then thanked me before hanging up. I then washed some dresses, and transplanted some plants so that I could take them to the garden club end of year plant exchange. I then did some math and some french lessons. By the time I had done all of this it was now nearly 2:00pm. My Godmother (although I should call her my Grandmother because she is more like a grandmother than any real grandmother could ever be) anyway I had called her earlier that day to ask her if she would take me to garden club, she said that she would pick me up at 2:10pm. So I went upstairs and got changed out of my scruffy everyday clothes into something nicer and more formal clothes (a dress). Then I went to garden club, I had a great time! The plants that I got was a mystery succulent and an aloe vera plant. Then I went with my Godmother to Georgios to get a pizza so that we could have a pizza for dinner ( I would go to her house to have dinner with her and with my Godfather). The pizza was delicious. At nearly 8:00pm mom and dad came back from a large city about 45 minuets away (because this is a blog I will not disclose any names of cities or people) to pick me up and to take me home. In the back seat was a box that said Petco on it! I opened it up a little and there was a parakeet, a deep blue color with bands of gray on her shoulders and head. We turned around the corner (because my godmothers house is just around the corner from our house) and pulled into the drive. I introduced the new parakeet to our other parakeet Tupelo. They seemed to become friends. I then put them both into there cage for them to settle in together. Mom then turned to me and asked if I had been a good girl today, and I told her that I thought I had been a good girl. She then handed me another Petco box. I thought "good grief another parakeet" but I was wrong. I opened the box and I just started jumping up and down with joy! And I was squealing, Because in the box was a little golden corn snake!!! I couldn't believe it, my very own corn snake. [now you must understand that a few weeks ago I had wanted a corn snake - for my birthday - so seeing a corn snake that mom said is mine is a real surprise and a shock]. Soon we had put a layer of Aspen bedding on the bottom of the glass tank, and put the water bowl in it, and then put the heat mat on the bottom of glass tank. But before long it was my bedtime and I had to put the snake away so that I could go to bed and to sleep.

Now the truth is that this blog is about my snake, and what happens over the first year of this snakes life. I hope you enjoy!
Thanks for reading.

P.S. The snakes name is Midas but I think I like spelling her name as Mydaas better!
